A.J. Foyt’s 1964 Indy 500-winning Watson Roadster “Sheraton Thompson Special”. It’s the last front engine car to win the Indianapolis 500^® and one of the most significant in racing history.

Three dozen new parts were tooled for this model and all of the bodywork except for the tailpiece is unique, as is the seat and cockpit upholstery. Unlike other Carousel 1 1960-1962 Watson models, this one has the wider, shorter wheels and tires that are correct for 1964. You may notice that this model lacks the “can of ham” outside oil tank characteristic of Watsons and other roadsters. The outside tank is on the real car in the Hall of Fame Museum and the qualifying photo. But research revealed that the outside tank was not on the car as it ran the race! Discovering and replicating these details is why Carousel 1 models are sought after by collectors and enthusiast.
